Abstract
The ASEAN Work Plan on Education 2021-2025 emphasizes the need to introduce innovative teaching and learning methods to improve the quality of education through regional cooperation. ASEAN initiatives aim to facilitate the continuous professional development of teachers by equipping them with the required skills to implement these methods in teaching. However, the application of concept maps (CMs) in teaching in parts of ASEAN is related to several problems and challenges. One such issue is the lack of training among teachers. This quasi-experimental study evaluated the effectiveness of a workshop in enhancing the knowledge and perceptions of faculty members regarding the use of CMs. Self-perceived knowledge and perceptions regarding CMs were assessed via a pre-and post-test questionnaire. The median knowledge score, self-reported knowledge of CMs, self-reported ability to create digital CMs, and self-perceived confidence level in applying CMs in medical education improved (p<0.001) among the participants after the workshop.
